January 2011: We have been chosen as the top recommended fresh fish supplier by Channel 4's 'Big Fish Fight' series. We are absolutely committed to local, sustainable sourcing, and are proud to be the first online retailer to achieve MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) Accreditation.
Nov 2009: "My box contained superb-quality Gurnard, Pollack fillets and Sardines as well as super-fresh Crab and Lobster. All were filleted brilliantly with no pin bones remaining."
We had such a great time with Dave and Simon, showing them Newlyn Market, taking them out to catch lobsters with Jeremy Hosking, and cooking with top chef Adam Clarke down on the quay. If you haven't seen it already have a look at the brief clip linked below. (If you double click on the video it will play bigger)
We recently supplied TV presenter, stylist and writer, Gizzi Erskine, with some seafood. This is what she said (we're delighted of course): "Today was a good day. I was sent a package that I feel is safe to say life changing. A superb company called Fish for thought (www.fishforthought.co.uk) have come up with the rather nifty idea of sending spankingly fresh fish straight from the Cornish seas to your front door. Too good to be true I thought, but at midday there was a knock on the door and lo and behold a vast package filled to the brim with the freshest fish I've seen in London!" Check out www.gizzierskine.com and you can see what she did with the seafood.
A couple of weeks ago we were asked if we could help with some seafood for the now famous Blaggers Banquet. This event is managed by a group of Bloggers who are all absolutely passionate about food and is in aid of Action Against Hunger. Of course we were delighted to help, and took up some fantastic Newlyn monkfish for a special dish prepared by Charlies comments are below, along with a link to his site where his recipe for Monkfish Tartar can be seen. "I can categorically say that it was the most pristine monk that I have had the pleasure to work with, and all the diners were very happy with the starter and I barely had to do anything to it at all!" "This supplier has been a great discovery - and when we stumble on such a great service, we want to share it with you! Fish For Thought is one of the most established online fishmongers in the UK - who put their daily catches from Cornish day-boats online. The freshest fish come cleaned to your preference, off the boat, packed in a box of ice and to your doorstep in no time. They're extremely reasonable with a great variety of seafood, and we're proud to use their fish at School of Wok."
