Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year

Christmas Deliveries

Back to the shop

The Christmas period is always a difficult time, most of the boats tie up for the celebrations, and the local fish markets aren't open until after the New Year. Due to the perishable nature of our products and the timing of Christmas, we can't deliver on Christmas Eve, so our
LAST DELIVERIES NOW 19th December,

LAST ORDERS Midnight Sunday 14th December
.
We will then be closed until the New Year, and normal deliveries will re-commence on *** WEDNESDAY 9th JANUARY.

No deliveries between 19th December (existing orders) and 9th January.

During that period the phones won't necessarily be manned as we take the opportunity of having a break ourselves, but you can still order online as usual for delivery in the New year, and we will confirm your orders personally as soon as possible, though it will not be within our usual 24 hours timescale.

Lobsters

Some customers feel they must have Lobster for Christmas for many reasons, Vegetarian, don't like Turkey, family tradition and a variety of other reasons. It is possible, subject to the weather, availability with the very restricted supplies and the very high price at Christmas, your options as I see it are as follows.

  1. Buy them and have them delivered now, freeze them, either raw or cooked, and keep the price within reason.
  2. Buy them and have them delivered the week before Christmas at the price at the time and freeze them.
  3. If weather restricts supplies we may have ready cooked and frozen in our freezer, if they are not on the price list ring us on the freephone number to check for availability.
  4. Lobster season is almost over, and supplies will become increasingly difficult, since Shellfish freeze particularly well, buying them now will avoid not only the high price, but fish that have been stored and lost condition.

Fresh Fish and frozen products.

As our fish is very fresh, it is ideally suited to home freezing, and for the short time involved is probably the best bet, especially as during the week running up to Christmas the price of the prime species, such as Bass, Dover Soles and Lobsters go through the roof as demand exceeds supply. Since, weather permitting, there is usually plenty of wet fish available during November and the prices are correspondingly lower (weather permitting), it makes sense on an economic basis as well.

My suggestions are really summed up in two words ORDER EARLY, ideally by the first week of December but at the very latest the 14th December.
You can place a separate order now and specify "Christmas Order", with a delivery date if required, in the delivery instruction box at the bottom of the delivery address page, or make a note of your requirements and ring us on 0800-027-2066 with the details.

I would like to take the opportunity of thanking all of our customers for their support, and wish everyone a
VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND
A HAPPY, HEALTHY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
from Jeff, Barbara, Emma, Chris, Karl, Mandy, Paul, Richard, and all the local fishermen.
